A weekend of teachings on the Seven Points of Mind Training
The Buddhist teachings encourage us to develop more compassion and concern for others. But how do we do that when we are struggling with a negative self-image, feelings of insecurity and self-criticism? When we are absorbed in our own negative emotions, our world becomes very small and claustrophobic and it seems as if there’s no space for others. How can Lojong (training of the mind in compassion) help us break out of that small self, expand our perspective and connect us to our natural well-being and compassion? Could it be that a deeper sense of well-being is related to feeling more connected with ourselves and others?
In this weekend of teachings with Dungse Jampal Norbu, we will explore these questions in the context of the Lojong slogans from the Seven Points of Mind Training. These slogans show us how compassion and insight can practically be applied in our daily life and especially in times of uncertainty and change. As well as hearing Dungse Jampal’s advice and instructions, there will be opportunity to contemplate, discuss and ask questions on this topic. If you attended Dungse la’s teachings last year at the Rigpa centre Amsterdam, then this weekend will be an opportunity to learn more about these slogans.
Dates: 4 and 5 October Time: Both days start at 10:00 and last until 16:30. You are welcome from 9:30. Location: Rigpa-center Amsterdam The early-bird discount lasts until the 4th of September. You can order tickets at the bottom of this page.

Dungse Jampal Norbu is the son of Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, one of the most respected masters in the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Dungse Jampal has lived and traveled extensively in Asia, but spent much of his youth in Colorado. If you were to ask Dungse la how long he has been studying the Buddhist path, he would say, “Since I was born.” Under his father’s wing he received many teachings and transmissions, sometimes while the two were walking in the mountains of Crestone or riding a train in India. In 2012, he completed the five-year Translator’s Degree Program in Bir, India, which supplied him with a rigorous and traditional shedra education focused on the Classical Indian texts of Nalanda, along with skills to translate written works from Tibetan to English. When Dungse Jampal was still an infant, Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche instructed Kongtrul Rinpoche to train him to uphold and continue Kongtrul Rinpoche’s lineage, particularly that of Mangala Shri Bhuti, the spiritual organisation founded by Kongtrul Rinpoche. With the foundation of his life-long guidance and education from Kongtrul Rinpoche, Dungse la also teaches widely and engages in an annual 100-day retreat at Longchen Jigme Samten Ling in Colorado. His anecdotal style and first-hand curiosity about how Buddhism relates to actual experience imbue his teaching with a fresh perspective, and reveal his natural wisdom and humour.
